Katarzyna Uzar

Katarzyna UzarKatarzyna is an assistant solicitor with the firm who specialises in contentious insolvency and commercial litigation.  She trained at Wedlake Bell and since qualifying as a solicitor, she has been involved in many general commercial litigation matters, including applications made for delivery up half a million pounds worth of building equipment, freezing orders, setting aside default judgments, issuing claims for service out of the jurisdiction, multi-trader intra-community (MTIC) fraud cases and enforcing judgments. She continues to represent clients in multi-million pound claims for withheld VAT input tax.

Katarzyna has also advised in the architecture and planning industry, as to the validity of allegations made by the City of Westminster that a client breached various listing building offences in accordance with s. 9(1) and s. 9(2) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.

In addition to her litigation experience, Katarzyna regularly advises Insolvency Practitioners and private clients in respect of contentious insolvency proceedings, including claims for wrongful trading, fraudulent trading, preferences, transactions at an undervalue, claims for breach of directors duties, applications for rescission of winding-up orders and applications for an Order for possession and sale.

Appreciated by clients for her down to earth and practical approach to problem solving, she also maintains strong relations with a number of leading Insolvency Practitioners in central London and elsewhere who continue to instruct her.  Katarzyna regularly attends hearing at both the High Court and County Courts. She also speaks, reads and writes fluently in Polish. She supports Derby County F.C.
